Tonight was a fun night on the town! As a whole group we went into the city center of Maastricht to get some delicious dinner. We ended up at an Irish pub called John Mullins...I know its very ironic that we are in the Netherlands and ended up in an Irish pub. Everyone was so hungry that we wanted traditional food that we could recognized. Since there was a special on burgers on Wednesdays, I ordered a chicken burger and freits (aka french fries). The burger was soo good! It had bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. After we ate dinner, we enjoyed each others company and observed all of the European culture had to offer. Once we were all ready to leave the pub, a few of us wanted to explore the city. Maastricht is a very colonial old fashion style city. The architecture and roads are very similar to Georgetown but much bigger! It is filled with shops, restaurants, pubs, and clubs. We walked around and heard electric dance music coming from a neon flashing building. As curious tourists we walked inside see what was it was about. There were a few people on the dance floor with neon glow sticks and face paint bobbing their heads to the music. When we got their a girl approach us girls and asked as if we wanted to have a glow stick and our faced painted with neon paint...so since we are only here for a couple of days we don't want to object to anything. We got free glow sticks and wacky designs on our face. We bobbed our heads and danced to electric with the crowd...even when the rest of the people were not dancing we were enjoying ourselves. As the night started to get later a few of us were ready to head back to the hotel and sleep. When we left the club four of us walked back to the hotel, while the others continue to party their night away. Even the though the hotel was 2 miles away from the center city, the walk went by really fast! We almost got lost but with the help of the few friendly Dutch people riding their bikes showed us to the direction to the hotel! Cinzia got to practice her dutch and said thank you to the kind gentlemen!..fun fact thank in dutch is 'bedankt'. It was a fun night out on the town and I am really excited to visit the primary school later today! Stay tune to the next post! And goodnight :)
